Our Sustainability Strategy is now live!

17/01/2022

It’s Big Energy Saving Week and a great time to put our Sustainability Strategy and how we’re working to help you to save energy in the spotlight.

Upgrading your homes to be energy efficient, building good quality low carbon new homes and implementing greener ways of working are among our priorities set out in our Sustainability Strategy.

Over the next five years we are focusing on:

  • supporting customers to move out of fuel poverty
  • increasing the energy efficiency of our homes
  • building good quality, energy efficient and low carbon new homes
  • aiming to achieve net zero carbon emissions
  • improving the biodiversity of our green spaces
  • reducing the amount of waste, we produce and increase how much we recycle.

We believe that housing associations like us have a unique opportunity to be at the forefront of the country’s work to start to bring greenhouse gas emissions to net zero and make a big difference to our customers who live in FCHO homes and communities now and in the future.

We are already implementing greener working practices, including cutting the carbon footprint of our existing and new homes, boosting biodiversity in neighbourhoods, launching energy guides to help our customers to save money and energy, buying an electric pool car and upgrading our van fleet to more environmentally friendly vehicles, amongst other things.

But we know that there’s much more work for us to do and our Sustainability Strategy is our roadmap to help us to achieve this providing sustainable and affordable homes for our customers and minimising our environmental impact.
