Crackdown on social housing fraudsters in Oldham

An Oldham housing association has managed to save £760,000 thanks to a new service to combat social housing fraud.
Since September 2017, First Choice Homes Oldham has received 40 reports of fraud from members of the public, customers and employees that have resulted in 26 cases being investigated.

So far ten Right to Buy applications have been stopped due to fraud investigation checks. This has resulted in a potential discount saving of £400,000.

First Choice Homes Oldham gets gold award for looking after employees

Housing association First Choice Homes Oldham is a great employer – that’s according to Investors in People who have awarded it a gold accreditation for the second time.

The organisation has been given the award for commitment shown to employees, their working environment, improving skills and wellbeing.

The organisation also achieved a gold accreditation in 2014, and gained a bronze Investors in People award in 2011.

Nearly £1m has been spent this year on improving 447 homes in Derker, Oldham, which it’s hoped will cut energy bills and improve health.
