Free sessions for parents and carers of children with autism, ADHD or other neurodivergent conditions at Alt Community Centre

19/10/2026

Parents and carers of children with autism, ADHD and other neurodivergent conditions can access free support sessions at Alt Community Centre from next month.

We have partnered with local community organisation Calm Ahead to deliver three Youth Connect 5 courses between November and March.

The NHS, Oldham Council and other partners have funded the programme, while we are providing the use of Alt Community Centre free of charge.

The courses will give parents and carers a better understanding of neurodiversity, offer emotional wellbeing support, share practical strategies to help children and provide opportunities to connect with others facing similar challenges.

“FCHO is pleased to use this community space and its strong partnerships to deliver this specialist support in our communities that will help residents and our customers,” said FCHO Project and Partnerships Officer Ghazalla Iqbal.

“This is help close to home that we hope will remove barriers to support and crucially improve the lives of children, young people and their carers.”

Director of Calm Ahead CIC Jenny Eastwood added: “ Calm Ahead is grateful to have received the funding to deliver this course. We understand the challenges many parents experience and have seen the positive impact this support can have on families."
