Grass cutting begins

23/04/2024

You will start to see our Grounds Maintenance teams busy grass cutting in your neighbourhoods, as they begin their annual grass cutting programme to keep green spaces looking good through the spring and summer months.

Teams are carrying out the first cut of grass in areas at the moment. From May until October they will be cutting the grass every two weeks, subject to grounds conditions.

See when we’ll be cutting the grass in your neighbourhood by checking the schedule on the about grass cutting webpage.

Nature friendly zones in your neighbourhoods

We’re continuing our work to make your neighbourhoods greener and more nature-friendly places to live, now and in the future.

Keep your eyes peeled for…

  • Wildflower plots for flowering plants to grow and encourage bees and other insects to flourish and thrive
  • Natural meadows where grass will be left to grow until the end of the cutting season in October. In place of the grass, we are encouraging natural flowers to grow, to create important habitats for insects, and bring colour and brightness to our open spaces. Grass cutting in other areas will continue as normal.
  • Native flower spaces where we’ve planted flower bulb mix to bring swathes of vibrant colour for you to enjoy and attract wildlife like bees, ladybirds and butterflies too.

We have introduced all these features in response to feedback from our customers who tell us that sustainability is important to you as we look after your neighbourhoods.

These initiatives contribute to our ongoing work to reduce our environmental impact, help tackle climate change and deliver lots of other important benefits for our customers and communities in line with our Sustainability Strategy and Big Plan.
