Here we mow! Grass cutting season underway
07/04/2025
Our grass cutting season is underway - helping keep green spaces in your neighbourhood looking good through the spring and summer months.
This month we are carrying out the first cuts of grass. Between mid-April and October we will be cutting the grass on FCHO-owned land outside the boundary of your home and in communal areas every two weeks, subject to grounds conditions.
See when we’ll be cutting the grass in your neighbourhood by checking the schedule on the about grass cutting webpage.
Nature friendly zones in your neighbourhoods
We’re continuing to make your neighbourhoods greener and more nature-friendly places to live, now and in the future with...
- Wildflower plots for flowering plants to grow and encourage bees and other insects to flourish and thrive
- Natural meadows where grass will be left to grow until the end of the cutting season in October. In place of the grass, we are encouraging natural flowers to grow, to create important habitats for insects, and bring colour and brightness to our open spaces. Grass cutting in other areas will continue as normal.
- Native flower spaces where we’ve planted flower bulb mix to bring swathes of vibrant colour for you to enjoy and attract wildlife like bees, ladybirds and butterflies too.
- Tree planting to make our urban areas more attractive and help combat climate change. Sign up to become an FCHO tree guardian and show your support.
We've listened to feedback from customers who have told us that sustainability is important to you as we look after your neighbourhoods.
These initiatives contribute to our ongoing work to reduce our environmental impact, help tackle climate change and deliver lots of other important benefits for our customers and communities as part of our Big Plan 2.0.
