What our Fire Safety Programme has delivered in 2021/2022

More than 1,200 communal fire doors have been installed and fire stopping work has been carried out in 551 homes – these are just some of the important interventions delivered by our Fire Safety Programme in the financial year 2021/22.

In the period April 2021 – April 2022 we have invested over £3.4m in a variety of measures to maintain and improve blocks of flats with three storeys or more to ensure that they comply with fire and building safety legislation both now and in the future.

The work we have delivered covers:

  • Fire stopping work in 551 homes, to stop any fire from spreading
  • 1212 communal fire door replacements
  • 124 bin chutes and bin stores have been refurbished to help control fire, should it take place.
  • Installed new fire rated front doors in 98 flats
  • Installed new fire rated windows in 23 flats
  • Increased fire and carbon monoxide detection measures in 294 flats

Delivery of our Fire Safety Programme continues until spring 2023 and work will include:

  • Installing sprinkler systems in high rise tower blocks to control any fireand reduce damage to homes.
  • Increasing ventilation in communal areas in blocks to help deal with smoke, should a fire occur
  • Undertaking on-going assessments of external wall insulation systems
