We've completed the first phase of our £15.7m Fitton Hill housing development

01/09/2026

All 29 properties from the initial phase of our Fitton Hill development have now been handed over to us.

The three and four-bedroom homes for shared ownership and social rent have been built on the former Fitton Hill Secondary Modern School in Rosary Road. Some shared ownership homes are still available.

The new sustainable properties are part of a £15.7 million deal between us and Vistry Group to eventually build 101 affordable homes at the site by 2027.

“These new family properties are now on our books and available for the people of Oldham to make their new home,” said our Executive Director of Corporate Services and Deputy Chief Executive Andy Ewart.

“It shows FCHO is doing all it can in partnership with Vistry and Oldham Council to address the urgent need for these types of homes in areas where people want to live. We are also building a new community at Fitton Hill as more homes are built. If families are interested in being part of that community then some shared ownership homes are still available.”

Fitton Hill is our second biggest ever development in cash terms following the recent £20 million West Vale project in Coldhurst, and the largest ever for the number of properties.

Matthew Parkes, Managing Director of Vistry Manchester and Cheshire East, said: “Fitton Hill is a strong example of what can be achieved through effective partnership working, with Vistry set to deliver more than 100 affordable family homes on behalf of First Choice Homes Oldham. By combining FCHO’s local insight and commitment to affordable housing with Vistry’s delivery expertise, we are helping to bring forward high-quality, sustainable homes that will make a real difference for families in Oldham."

Work on the further 72 homes as part of the second phase in Rosary Road has started. Completion is scheduled for the end of 2027. All will boast green features to help keep bills down.
