Read what’s been happening across our neighbourhoods over the past few months. 

 
Central- Alt and Glodwick, Coldhurst - Barker Street and St Mary’s, Coldhurst – Godson Street and Clarkwell, Holts Village, Higginshaw and Egerton Street 

  • Free mental health and wellbeing sessions for customers took place this summer at FCHO’s Alt Community Centre in partnership with Calm Ahead and Action Together. 

  • FCHO’s anti-social behaviour team and neighbourhood coordinators had a walkabout on Egerton Street in June, meeting customers and local residents to talk about ASB. 

 

West - Chadderton North and Central, Chadderton South, Coldhurst - Burnley Street, Busk and West Street, Werneth 

  • Our stronger communities and ASB teams were at June's Chadderton Neighbour Day with Housing 21, Northern Lily and the police to speak with customers about antisocial behaviour. 

  • FCHO, the Yuvanis Foundation and Ridge & Partners LLP are holding a green careers  event on 26th August at the foundation’s Middleton Road base to help young people aged 11 to 16 explore sustainable job opportunities. 
     

East – Derker, Greenacres, Littlemoor, Saddleworth and Lees, Sholver 

  • Hope Restoration ran a biodiversity themed event at the Sholver and Moorside Community Centre to mark World Bee Day with support from FCHO. 

  • An ASB Q&A session took place at Stoneleigh Park in July where FCHO led the event alongside the police and council so residents could learn about how to report issues. 
     

South – Failsworth, Hollinwood, Medlock Vale, Eldon Street and Hathershaw 

  • Pollinator friendly family activities were held by Local Food First at the Wildbrook Community Food and Growing Hub in May for World Bee Day thanks to support from FCHO. 

  • A coffee morning at Bardsley community centre in June saw FCHO’s anti-social behaviour team talk to customers about any issues they have. 

  • The ASB team were also at Tensing St community centre for a coffee morning again to speak with customers about ASB concerns they have and how to report them. 

  

North – Royton North and High Crompton, Royton South, Shaw and Crompton 

  • FCHO, the police, the council and local councillors joined forces in June for an ASB walkabout in Shaw's Cedar Grove, Laburnum Avenue and Hawthorn Crescent. 

  • Volunteer Janet Nuttall who helps the Friends of Dunwood Park in Shaw was FCHO’s June Hidden Hero because of her ‘outstanding contribution’ to the group. 

  

Rochdale borough – Heywood, Middleton, Rochdale 

  • Ground has been broken at FCHO’s £6.4 million development of 27 affordable homes off Bury Old Road in Heywood by Local MP Elsie Blundell and Rochdale Borough Councillor and Cabinet Member for Housing Danny Meredith. 

  • FCHO has launched a ‘name our street’ competition with local pupils at Our Lady’s and St Paul’s primary school in Heywood for the nearby Bury Old Road development.
