Two community litter picks in Oldham during the Great British Spring Clean that were supported by First Choice Homes Oldham (FCHO) have been hailed a great success.
The events at Tensing Street and Barker Street earlier this month removed around 20 bags of rubbish with support from our team supplying equipment and waste removal.
Bardsley Litter Pick Group and Northern Lily teamed up to tackle litter hotspots for the national initiative that promotes community spirit and tidiness.
In another event, the groups carried out wildflower seed bombing on Eden Street to bring colour and biodiversity to the newly opened community garden on our land.
“We’re delighted to support these two litter picks and be involved in several others across Oldham for the Great British Spring Clean,” said Stronger Communities Manager Naomi Martin-Smith.
“We helped clean out the Rochdale Canal and its environs at Failsworth and we also cleaned up the area around our new West Vale development last month.
“But without the help of groups like Northern Lily and litter pickers like Bardsley and Failsworth Walking Group we would not be able to achieve so much.
“Cleaner communities and more wildflowers make a positive impact on neighbourhoods and support the Love Where You Live message that is so important.”
