At least 135 of our properties on its Alt estate are set to be revamped in a £1.5 million project to make them more energy efficient.
The retrofit work will see measures such as loft and wall insulation, triple glazing, insulated doors, new ventilation, and smart heating controls installed.
Work is starting in June and will complete in the autumn.
The project is part of our ongoing plan to ensure all its 11,500 homes are brought up to at least an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) C rating by 2030.
“Our contractor Connolly is already on the Alt estate undertaking surveys on the properties ahead of this exciting next phase of improvements for our customers,” said Sustainability Manager, Olivia Greenhalgh.
“It is important we bring all our homes up to an EPC C standard over the next few years and FCHO is investing more than £18 million in this financial year alone to ensure it happens.
“Everyone who receives these improvements sees their bills go down and the comfort of living in their home go up. It’s a win, win and with the added bonus of helping to tackle climate change because our customers are using less energy to stay warm.”
The retrofit is also part of a wider two-year regeneration in Alt that will include improvements to green spaces, Olivia added.
Funding for the work is coming from FCHO’s own homes budget alongside Wave 3 Social Housing Fund (SHF) grants through Greater Manchester Combined Authority.
