£15.7 million deal signed to build more than 100 affordable homes on land in Fitton Hill

We are pleased to announce that we have signed a £15.7 million deal with Vistry Group to build more than 100 affordable homes on land in Fitton Hill.
Nearly two thirds of the new sustainable buildings will be three and four-bedroom properties as we continue to address the need for family homes. It's our second biggest ever development in cash terms following the recent £20 million West Vale project in Coldhurst, and the largest ever for the number of properties.
All 101 homes are to be built on two parcels of land off Rosary Road - one the former Fitton Hill Secondary Modern School and another nearby greenfield site. Planning permission is granted and work is well advanced on the first parcel of land. Work on the second parcel will commence this month. Completion is scheduled for the end of 2027.
“This major new investment by FCHO in affordable properties for Oldham is going to help us deliver the much-needed family homes the area needs,” Executive Director of Corporate Services and Deputy Chief Executive Andy Ewart said.
“Crucially they will be located where people want to live, where they are close to transport links and can benefit from existing infrastructure and amenities.
“The announcement also demonstrates we are on track to build at least 600 new properties in the next few years as we partner with experienced developers like Vistry Group to deliver our new homes strategy."
Mr Ewart added: “FCHO is working hard to substantially expand our housing stock by building the high-quality, affordable and sustainable properties that are needed across our communities.”
Managing Director of Vistry Manchester and Cheshire East Matthew Parkes said: “We’re delighted to be working in partnership with FCHO to bring much needed affordable homes to the area."
Homes for social rent, rent to buy and shared ownership will be available across the sites. All will boast green features to help keep bills down. At the former school site, 29 three and four-bedroom properties will be available. In addition, 72 two and three-bedroom properties will be available at the other parcel of land.
In total, 64 out of the 101 properties will be either three or four-bedroom family homes.
