£1.4 million energy efficiency retrofit programme in Chadderton and Shaw completes this month

Work finishes this month on 196 of our homes in Chadderton and Shaw, following a £1.4 million energy efficiency improvement programme.

Contractor Connolly has been hard at work in the areas since last summer putting in upgraded loft and wall insulation, triple glazed windows, insulated doors and new ventilation.

The work is part of an ongoing project to bring all our homes up to an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating of at least C by 2030. In total 118 properties have been refitted in Chadderton and 78 in Shaw.

Work is already 95% complete with finishing touches to remaining homes scheduled to end in the latter part of May.

“We really pleased to be finishing this phase of our retrofit programme but the work does not stop there,” said Sustainability Manager Olivia Greenhalgh.

“FCHO is investing more than £18 million in this financial year on improving even more homes so they are energy efficient and comfortable for our customers.

“This means retrofit work is coming to our properties in Saddleworth, Holts Village and Alt in the coming year and more information will be released on this soon.”

She added: “All this work is important because it means lower energy bills. One lady in Roundthorn said her energy bill had reduced from £40 to £50 a week on gas in winter to around £20 after the retrofit of her home.”
