Our Community Impact Team
Coronavirus: latest update on the Community Impact Team
The coronavirus has impacted on our Community Impact Team and there have been some changes to our service:
- Community drop-in sessions are suspended until further notice
- The duty service held at First Place, Oldham on Mondays and Thursdays is suspended until further notice
- Our customers can still access support from our advisors. Please call the Contact Centre on 0161 393 7117 to speak to a member of the team.
How our Community Impact Team can help you
We recognise that our residents can sometimes need assistance, advice or support to manage their tenancies successfully and to better their own personal or family circumstances. We can help with a wide range of financial problems, benefit support, employment and training opportunities plus reassurance and peace of mind.
Under the banner of Community Impact, we have set up three teams to help you with whatever difficulties you are facing. If we can’t directly help, we’ll know who else to involve who can.
If you have a problem that we can help with, or if you would just like to explore how we can help improve your finances, reduce debts or increase your disposable income, you can make a self-referral by calling us on 0161 393 5488.
Community Impact Team
Our skilled Community Impact Advisors have a wealth of knowledge and experience supporting individuals with a variety of issues, both financial and personal.
Our experienced employment and volunteering team is driven to support our customers into new or better employment. They also provide volunteering opportunities and delivering a variety of training sessions.
The Independence Service
The Independence Service is designed to offer advice and assistance to help you stay living independently, and to provide help as and when you need it. It gives you a named member of staff who you can contact on their direct phone number with any enquiries.
How to access help
Our advisors are happy to make an appointment to visit you at your home to assess how we may be able to help you. We are also available for appointments at our town centre office or at a number of community centres. We have various drop-in sessions including evening and weekend drop-ins. You don’t need an appointment to attend one of these drop-ins, just come along and see how we can help.
The benefits calculator
The independent benefits calculator can help you to find out:
- What benefits you could get
- How to claim
- How your benefits will be affected if you start work
The calculator is free to use and anonymous. You will find information on income-related benefits, tax credits, contribution-based benefits, Council Tax Reduction, Carer’s Allowance, Universal Credit, how these are calculated and how your benefits will be affected if you start work or change your working hours.
Use the free online calculator to check you are claiming the full income you qualify for.
