Take ten minutes to protect you, your loved ones and neighbours from fire

30/01/2024

Did you know you can get free, personalised home fire safety advice from our friends at Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) and it only takes about ten minutes?

You can access a new Online Home Fire Safety Check tool, where you can complete a home fire safety check to help identify fire hazards in your home and get guidance on simple changes you can make to reduce the risk of a fire.

The free online assessment tool, which takes between 10 and 15 minutes to complete, will give you personalised advice by taking you through your home one room at a time and asking simple questions to help you spot fire risks as you go.

Take the Online Home Fire Safety Check.

The easy-to-follow tool will also tell you if you’re eligible for a Home Fire Safety Assessment, delivered by trained GMFRS staff.

During the visit they will provide fire safety advice and equipment depending on risk. They will need to talk to you about your health, home environment and your daily activities in order to understand your fire risk and provide the best advice for you.

Once you have completed the Online Home Fire Safety Check, your answers will help the GMFRS team to decide if you need a Home Fire Safety Assessment. If you do, you’ll be asked to complete and submit an online referral form and GMFRS will contact you to make an appointment for a face-to-face visit, carried out by local firefighters or prevention staff.

If you do not have online access, you can telephone the GMFRS contact centre on 0800 555 815 to find out if you are eligible for a Home Fire Safety Assessment.
