Independence Service here to help you as the pandemic continues

11/11/2020

Our Independence Service is still here for you if you need some support and would benefit from regular contact with a member of our team as the Covid-19 pandemic continues.

The help provided by our Independence Service can give you peace of mind to continue to live independently in your home for as long as possible. The service is popular with the over 70s but offers support to customers of any age who need it.

Our dedicated Independence Advisors can help you with a wide range of things. These include reporting repairs and neighbourhood and environmental issues; dealing with rent and benefits; and providing support with forms and letters. They can also connect you with local community groups and activities and signpost to other services that may be able to help.

To receive this service there is a small charge of £9.88 per week however, this cost could be covered through your Housing Benefit or Universal Credit claim, depending on your personal circumstances.

You can read more about the Independence team’s service in the guide on our website. Copies are also available from our teams.

Vicky Campbell, Independence Service Manager, Community Impact Team said: “The Independence Service’s aim this year was to help reduce social isolation and loneliness among our customers. With the pandemic still ongoing, helping to tackle these issues is even more important. Some of our customers have got a good support network around them, but for those who don’t and need some help, we are here for them.”
