Get involved and join the Great British Spring Clean events

We are pleased to announce that we are offering support for a host of clean ups and litter picks across our communities for this year’s annual Great British Spring Clean initiative.

The national project, running from 13th to 29th March, is organised by Keep Britain Tidy and is the country’s biggest mass action environmental campaign.

We are joining a host of community groups and charities to fund clean ups across the town and support activities through colleague volunteering.

Stronger Communities Manager, Naomi Martin-Smith, said: “FCHO is a big supporter of the Great British Spring Clean and we’re delighted to be involved in so many events this year working in partnership with local community groups, charities and the council,” .

“We are committed to supporting our customers and community members in taking action to improve their neighbourhoods through small funding, practical support and volunteering, and the Great British Spring Clean is a perfect example of this commitment.

“If you are an Oldham, Middleton, Heywood or Littleborough-based community organisation that runs neighbourhood improvement events such as litter picks, then please get in touch to see how we might help.”

Events we are supporting include: a litter pick at Barker Street in Coldhurst on 21st March from 1pm to 3pm.

Following retrofit work in Shaw there will be a litter pick in the area on 27th March from 12pm to 4pm. Salts Street, Rushcroft and the Small Brook area in Shaw plus East Crompton and St James will be cleaned up by customers, community members, our retrofit contractor Connolly Ltd and colleague volunteers.

On 25 March a litter pick is taking place at St Hugh’s Primary school in Holts Village with our colleagues, St Hugh’s students and Oldham College students.

Sholver Millennium Green Trust and Life for a Life Memorial Forests in Sholver are joining with local residents for a litter pick from 10am to 3pm on 1st April a few days after the end of the spring clean.
