First Choice Homes Oldham (FCHO) has congratulated local companies who have received gold, silver and bronze membership awards from a national initiative designed to help the environment.

We are encouraging all suppliers to actively engage in the Supply Chain Sustainability School and use its free online learning platform.

It equips businesses with the tools and knowledge needed to strengthen sustainability skills in areas such as waste reduction, energy efficiency, sustainable sourcing and carbon reduction.

So far, 25 companies across Greater Manchester, including five with offices or premises in Oldham, have joined the school and five bronze, three silver and four gold awards have been given out.

“FCHO is delighted the school is going from strength to strength and we are proud to see so many of our supply partners actively engaging with the programme,” said FCHO executive director of homes, Steve Agger.

“The ambition to reach net zero cannot be achieved in isolation and our suppliers’ commitment to sustainability will be vital if we are to see progress in our own operations and across our communities in the Oldham area.

“We congratulate all those who have received their recognition and we also hope more of our supply chain will join the school now the benefits of doing so are becoming more apparent.”

Electrical contractor Barlows has an office in Chadderton and is part of the school.

Senior contracts manager Richard Morris added: “The knowledge and insight gained from the Supply Chain Sustainability School has enabled us to improve day-to-day operations, from sourcing materials and managing waste to introducing hybrid vehicles.

“Being a Gold member reassures our customers of our commitment to positively impacting the environment.”
