FCHO and Oldham Council welcome Homes England to share our vision for local housing

13/04/2022

In partnership with Oldham Council, this week we welcomed the team from Homes England to Oldham to share our joint vision for delivering more affordable housing in the Oldham borough.

In line with our Development Strategy, we are delivering 1,100 new homes 2020-2026, with 700 homes still to be delivered. We are working to create a variety of quality, energy efficient property types - from apartments to family homes – to meet the needs of local people.

Oldham Council’s Housing Delivery Strategy sets out its plan to create up to 3,000 much-needed new homes built on more than 20 council-owned sites across the borough.

Together our focus will be:

  • Accessible and adaptable homes.
  • Zero/low carbon housing and modern methods of construction (MMC)
  • Supporting town centre renewal
  • Brownfield first approach
  • Collaborative working to maximise delivery

Donna Cezair, FCHO Chief Executive says: “The Homes England visit marks a new level of ambition and aspiration for housing in Oldham. The borough needs more modern, quality, affordable homes that meet housing need today and are fit for the future, and we and Oldham Council are committed to making this happen.

“Joint working between our organisations is central to this. We’re key partners coming together to make a difference to people in Oldham and I look forward to the results we can deliver together.”
