Energy assessments begin on hundreds of homes, to boost energy efficiency and help cut gas/electric bills

20/09/2022

The first phase of our improvement project to make more than 200 FCHO-owned homes more energy efficient and help cut customers’ gas and/or electric bills by up to a third is underway.

The investment work, which will be completed between now and March 2023, will bring homes up to a minimum of Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) Band C. In doing so, households could potentially see a 30% reduction on their energy bills and save a combined 225 tonnes of carbon per year going forward - that’s the equivalent of planting 9,000 trees a year to offset emissions.

Energy saving measures will be tailored to each home involved in the project and potential improvements include cavity wall, loft and party wall insulations; new windows and doors; and solar panels.

About energy performance assessments

The first stage of the investment project is to carry out energy performance assessments at homes eligible for the green upgrades and we are working with specialist contractor, Parcor Ltd to contact households.

We have already written letters to all homes which can benefit from the work, and Parcor is now calling and texting customers to arrange energy assessments.

These can be organised for a time that is convenient for you and the surveyor will do their best to fit around your existing commitments.

The assessments are carried out by Parcor surveyors and usually take up to two hours to complete. During this time the surveyor will talk to you about your home and your energy use. Using this information, we can decide what improvements are most suitable for your home and then consult with you before planning to carry out the work.
