Customer involvement in action at first Board meeting of 2026

08/02/2026

Last month, members of our Customer and Communities Committee and Customer Performance and Scrutiny Panel joined our Board and leadership team for their first meeting of the year, helping to shape our future direction.

At FCHO, we believe it is important that we maintain strong links between the people who live in our homes and neighbourhoods, and our Board and sessions like this are a brilliant opportunity to listen to customers and ensure they directly influence the work we do.

This time, we talked about:

  • Our social purpose and how First Choice Homes Oldham can make an even bigger positive impact in our communities.
  • Our corporate plan, which will guide our work for the next five years and is due to launch in spring 2026.
  • Our long‑term goals for the lifetime of the corporate plan.
  • How we communicate the plan clearly and meaningfully to customers and colleagues.

Amanda Harris, Chair of FCHO’s Board, said:

“Having our customers involved in the first Board day of 2026 has been a great way to start the calendar year.

“As a Board, we recognise that their representation is crucial in ensuring our strategy meets and responds to their needs. The valuable insights and challenges provided by our customers today give me confidence that our initiatives over the next five years will be more impactful due to their ongoing engagement.”

Zara Mills, a Customer Performance and Scrutiny Panel member from Shaw and Crompton has been an FCHO customer for more than ten years.

She said: “I have seen all the work FCHO has been doing over the years and the improvements it has been doing and want to help improve it further.

“I’ve been a customer for a long time and I think it’s important to bring customers’ experience to discussions like this – not just for now but for future generations.”
