Awaab’s Law information

Keeping you safe in your home is our number one priority and in October a new law called Awaab’s Law means we must act quickly if you report damp, mould or other serious problems at your home.

The law is named after two-year-old Awaab Ishak who tragically died from mould exposure at his Rochdale home in 2020. 

It stipulates landlords are required to fix reported damp and mould within strict time limits.

FCHO has undertaken comprehensive work to ensure it is ready from day one to implement this important law.
