Stock Condition Survey FAQs



What is a stock condition survey?  

A stock condition survey is an overall assessment of the condition of your home, both inside and outside. We carry out surveys to help us with future planning for housing investment programmes and ensure that you receive any items that need replacing at the right time.

Who is carrying out the survey?

We have appointed contractors Michael Dyson Associates to carry out these surveys on our behalf. Every surveyor will be carrying an ID badge, and for security purposes we recommend you request to see it prior to allowing them access to your home.

How do I know if my home has been selected?

You will receive a letter from Michael Dyson Associates explaining that a member of staff may need to visit your home, and what you need to do to allow the stock condition survey to be carried out effectively.

How long will the surveys take?

A full survey will last approximately 30 minutes, if you are selected for a external survey only this should be approximately 15 minutes.

What elements of my home will you be looking at?

We will be assessing all elements of your home such as kitchens, bathrooms, roofs, windows and external areas. This is to inform our future investment programmes, to ensure we are prioritising the areas that need investment appropriately.

What if any replacements/repairs are identified during this survey?

You still need to report any repairs or emergencies through our standard procedure. If you identify a repair to your home, please us directly through our Contact Centre by calling 0161 393 7117.  If any large component items are identified for replacement they will be included in the investment programme

What about coronavirus?

If you or a member of your household has coronavirus symptoms, is self-isolating or shielding and Michael Dyson Associates has written to you to inform you they may need to visit your home, you must let them know immediately by contacting them on the following details:

The contractors are making every effort to eliminate the spread of coronavirus by maintaining 2m distance, wearing appropriate PPE (if entering your home) and washing hands or using sanitiser.

What happens after the survey?

The surveys are not about immediate improvements to your home, unless of course there is an immediate risk to you or your family. The information collected during the survey will be used for long term planning and improvement works.
