Neighbourhood Care is steaming ahead to improve our service to you!

28/06/2021

Our Neighbourhood Care team is now using new battery operated cleaning equipment in our communal blocks to help improve our service to you and help reduce our environmental impact.

Customer feedback provided by our Neighbourhood Champions informed us that you would like to see the standard of cleaning in your block go up.

We’ve listened and have invested in cordless cleaning kits including steam mops, floor scrubbers and vacuum cleaners which will enable our team to deliver an improved cleaning service in your blocks.

The versatile new equipment will be used to clean a variety of places such as stairwells, lifts and landings, including hard to reach areas, without trailing wires. The equipment is also easy for our team to transport and use and has good battery life.

The steam mops will help us deliver an enhanced service in areas where our team doesn’t have access to hot water to mop with. Additionally they operate without the need for chemicals and use less water, which sets them apart from other cleaning methods.

To measure the impact of the new equipment on cleaning standards, we have noted the current cleanliness in some of our blocks and we’ll review it again in three months’ time.

David Wrigley, our Head of Neighbourhood Care, said: “We aim to provide a clean, safe, well maintained home for our customers and we’ve brought in this new equipment in response to important feedback from our Neighbourhood Champions.

“We trialled the kit earlier in the year and were impressed with the enhanced cleaning results, how it can help us improve our environmental performance and ultimately deliver improved caretaking services to our customers. The new equipment is now in use and we hope our customers will see improvements in the standard of cleaning in the next few weeks and months.”

The new battery operated steam cleaning equipment is the latest measure introduced by our Neighbourhood Care team to boost its sustainability. During the winter season the team started to use battery operated grounds maintenance machinery, the benefits of which include no exhaust emissions, lower noise levels and reduced vibration for operators. This summer the team has created nature friendly zones to increase biodiversity in areas across Oldham.

Our Neighbourhood Champions are FCHO customers who are passionate about their area, take pride in their home and want to have their say in how we deliver and improve our services. Their work helps to influence the work that our Neighbourhood Care teams deliver, with a view to us making them better for you and making your area a great place to live.

Neighbourhood Champions carry out block inspections quarterly and are rewarded with a £10 voucher for taking part. To become a Neighbourhood Champion email ci@fcho.co.uk or get in touch with our Contact Centre. Call 0161 393 7117 or email servicecentre@fcho.co.uk.
