Have your say on the next phase of our West Vale scheme!

22/09/2021

Having your say on the look and feel of new homes at West Vale, learning about the community projects linked to the development, having an input into regeneration plans for the local neighbourhood and wildflower planting. These are among the things on offer at our West Vale community engagement event on Wednesday 29 September. Come down and get involved!

The session will be held on the West Street car park, next to where the iconic towerblocks Crossbank and Summervale now stand. Our plans to demolish these buildings and in their place bring forward 88 new homes – a mix of family homes and apartments – were approved by Oldham Council in June this year.

We’re now encouraging people from the West Street/Vale Drive neighbourhood and wider Oldham borough to get involved in the project’s next steps and give feedback on a range of matters including upcoming community projects, regeneration plans for the surrounding area, choice of materials to be used in the new build properties, and more.

Daniel Isherwood, our Project and Partnerships Officer said: “Community is at the heart of our West Vale project which is why we’re hosting this opportunity for local people come and tell us what they think of our plans for the next phase.

“We’re at a really exciting point to be involved. Our National Lottery Heritage Funded community development and digital inclusion project is getting off the ground and the towerblocks’ demolition is about to commence in the autumn. There are opportunities to have your say on the materials we use in the new homes and options for improving the surrounding neighbourhood, too.

“Our team will also be on hand to answer any questions you have about the scheme so if you’d like to get involved, we’d love to see you there.”

Our West vale community engagement session will be held 3-6pm, Wednesday 29 September at the West Street car park West Street OL9 6EJ.

No booking is required, just turn up.
