First Place vandalism

05 February 2019

This morning we discovered that First Place, our office building on Union Street, had been subject to graffiti overnight. The graffiti was criticising our provisions for the homeless and has now been removed.

Actions such as this are not helpful and we will not let them detract from the services and good work we do.

We work closely with, and on behalf of, Oldham Council to support those facing homelessness or sleeping rough in the town, assisting some of the most vulnerable people in society.

Members of our housing team and other staff members are often placed in difficult situations as they help the homeless and those faced with homelessness. But that hasn’t stopped the team doing their utmost to help.

For instance, in just over three years, we have seen over a 1,000% increase in temporary accommodation placements.

We will not allow such incidents to deter us from our mission to Improve Lives in Oldham.

For those seeking shelter or wish to refer a rough sleeper, call 0161 393 7117 between 9am and 5pm. Outside of those times, call the out of hours number on 0800 988 7061.
