Want to make our homes and neighbourhoods great places to live? Want to change things for the better and make a real difference?

You do?? Then you are right up our street! Read on…

About us and what we’re looking for…

We are an ambitious housing association that has three main objectives: to provide great homes; great services and great people.

We manage 11,380 homes across Oldham, but we’re much more than a landlord. We also provide a range of support services to our brilliant customers.

Our customers and colleagues come first for us and they are at the heart of everything we do. We want to consistently deliver a great experience for our customers and be an organisation that people aspire to work with and for.

We’re changing and developing our FCHO culture through looking at new ventures, new opportunities, and new partnerships to help our customers, our neighbourhoods, and our borough.

We’re looking for a Trainee Board Member to help us do that and we think it might be you!

You probably won’t have any previous experience of working on a board or in the corporate world or even the housing sector, but you’ll be interested in helping us create great homes and neighbourhoods in Oldham. This is a great way to build your CV, helping to lead and shape a dynamic, social organisation.

We will offer a fee of £3k per year and brilliant training and development opportunities, including a mentor who will support you on your journey. For that we will ask you join us for a two-year placement where you will attend and bring your ideas and energy to six board meetings a year and a few strategy events or ad hoc meetings.

Want to know more?

There’s lots more information about us on our website, including our strategic plan, our performance and financial info and details on the Board members you would be working with and our top team.

About you

We want our Board to be diverse to represent all our customers. With this in mind, we would welcome applications from young people (over 16) for this role.

You’ll be innovative, creative and passionate with the ability to bring new ideas, views and energy to our Board.

You’ll be confident, a great communicator, comfortable working as part of a team and be able to identify with our values and behaviours.

You’ll be passionate about Oldham, its neighbourhoods and residents and have an interest in housing and improving lives.

Should you then wish to discuss the opportunity further, please email Naveeda Khalil who will arrange for someone to contact you for a chat about the role.

To apply please email Naveeda Khalil a few paragraphs or a short video introducing yourself and telling us a bit about what makes you tick, why you are interested in the role and how great you would be at doing it! The closing date for applications is Friday 15 October.

Good luck!
