Benefits are Changing - do not get caught out

Starting in April, Universal Credit in Oldham is Changing. If you make a new claim or make changes to your claim, you will have to go on to the new online portal for benefits.

This means you will need to log on each day; to submit evidence of work searches, see any appointment details and to check for messages from your work coach. When you use the portal you will no longer get letters, emails or texts to let you know about any of these things.

To submit work search evidence you may need access to a scanner, as you will no longer be able to take evidence into the Job Centre. If you miss appointments, don't submit evidence or don't respond to a message from your work coach you're likely to get sanctioned.

Get ready for the change:

  • Register for MyAccount, ParentMail and other online portals now - to help you get used to using them
  • Check where your nearest free WiFi spot is by checking our online map of Oldham
  • Download a free pdf app onto your phone or tablet - these are available in most app stores and can turn pictures into documents you can upload to the portal
  • Ask for help - if you need support to use online tools, access the internet or need advice about money; contact us to and we can get you the help you need

Keeping on top of your benefit claim means less chance of sanctions.
